Our usual day looks like this:
Shaping the Bread
This is a time for the children to begin shaping their day, beginning conversations, and enjoy the rich sensory experience of shaping the dough.
Circle Time
Each month we will become familiar with several new rhymes, songs, and finger plays which lay the groundwork for later work in math, science, reading, music, and promote development in all areas of life.
Story
Each week we enjoy a simple, age-appropriate story, told out loud (rather than read from a book with pictures) - This helps the children use their imaginations to envision the story in their minds. We believe the stories we tell truly do take life in our children and shape the kinds of people they will be. We will be intentional about telling stories full of the goodness and wonder of creation, stories which will bring out the goodness in our children and give them lots of fodder for imaginative play.
Snack
We enjoy the fresh bread we made!
Activity or Play
Sometimes we offer unstructured play time with simple, natural toys (the best for stimulating the imagination!) The kids invent their own games and stories. Other times, we will have an activity such as a nature walk, sensory play, or a lesson.
Lunch (sack lunches packed from home)
Goodbye Circle and Verse:
Go in joy, go in peace to meet the day!
With open hearts embrace life's wonder.
We will guide you, we will love you on your way.
